Srinagar, Dec 22 (JKNS): Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Monday said that terrorism and all forms of crime will continue to remain under strict surveillance, asserting that there is zero tolerance for any activity that threatens peace and security in the Union Territory.
Speaking after inaugurating the 14th Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2025-26 at Kathua, DGP Prabhat as per news agency JKNS said that law enforcement agencies have kept a close watch on all criminal networks, including terrorist outfits, their support systems, drug traffickers, gangsters and mafia elements.
Prabhat said that whether it is terrorism, narco-smuggling, gangsterism or any other criminal activity, everything is under the scanner of the police. He added that the prime objective of the Jammu and Kashmir Police is to completely eliminate anti-national and anti-social elements from the region.
DGP said that the police, in close coordination with other security agencies, are conducting sustained and intensified operations against terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug peddlers and hawala operators. These efforts, he said, are aimed at dismantling the entire terror ecosystem, including its financial and logistical networks.
Highlighting the linkage between drugs and terrorism, Prabhat said that drug trafficking and hawala rackets are being treated as serious national security threats, as the proceeds from such illegal activities are often used to fund terror-related activities.
He further said that infiltration attempts, cross-border smuggling, drone-based activities and other hostile actions from across the border are being effectively countered by security forces.
DGP added that the security situation is reviewed regularly at the highest level, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chairing periodic meetings to assess preparedness and operational outcomes. He said the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also kept regularly informed about the security scenario and progress made in curbing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
