Srinagar, Dec 22 (JKNS): National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that the Vande Bharat train has proved to be a major support system for the people of Kashmir, particularly during the harsh winter season when road and air connectivity often face disruptions.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah, as per news agency JKNS, said snowfall, despite causing difficulties, is a blessing for the Valley. “Snowfall is a blessing for us and we pray that Allah blesses us with more,” he remarked while reacting to the recent snow in the region.
Abdullah said the train has provided reliable connectivity at times when highways are closed due to heavy snowfall and flights are delayed or cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.
“The Vande Bharat train has become a lifeline for Kashmir. Even when roads are blocked or flights are affected, the train continues to operate,” he said.
He noted that winters in Kashmir frequently bring prolonged disruptions, affecting travel for patients, students, traders and daily commuters. In such circumstances, he said, dependable rail connectivity offers a much-needed alternative.
Abdullah further said that improved rail services will not only ease passenger movement during winter but will also help sustain economic activity and ensure smoother transportation of essential goods. Reliable transport links, he added, are crucial for the Valley, especially during months when isolation becomes a serious challenge. (JKNS)
