Srinagar, Dec 24 (JKNS): Nearly 48 percent of households in Srinagar are now receiving round-the-clock electricity supply, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday, hailing the successful implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) trial in the city.
As per news agency JKNS, the Chief Minister, in a post on X, congratulated the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) for adding 83 more areas of Srinagar to the 24-hour power supply network after the RDSS trial recorded zero power cuts.
“With this achievement, a total of 108 areas in Srinagar have been upgraded to uninterrupted 24×7 electricity zones, benefiting around 1.25 lakh households, which is nearly 48 percent of the city,” the post read.
The Chief Minister further said that similar power infrastructure upgrades are underway in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply across the Union Territory. (JKNS)
