Karnah, Dec 25 (JKNS): After days of disruption caused by heavy snowfall, normalcy is gradually returning to Karnah as the crucial Sadhna Pass has been reopened and helicopter services have resumed, bringing major relief to the residents of the frontier region.
The Sadhna Pass had remained closed earlier due to continuous snowfall, which severely hampered vehicular movement and the supply of essential commodities. With improvement in weather conditions, Beacon authorities in close coordination with the District Administration Kupwara launched massive snow clearance operations and restored the road connectivity in the best possible time.
Soon after the restoration, stranded passengers were able to move, and vehicles carrying vital essentials including food items, vegetables and medicines crossed the pass, easing the difficulties faced by locals.
At present, due to the accumulation of snow and keeping in view the safety of commuters, only one-way traffic is being allowed from Karnah to Kupwara and vice versa as per official advisories. Authorities have urged people to strictly follow traffic regulations and remain cautious while travelling on high-altitude routes during winter.
Meanwhile, a local stated that, the timely resumption of helicopter services has provided additional relief, especially for patients, elderly citizens and those requiring urgent travel.
Locals have widely appreciated the District Administration Kupwara for its swift response, dedication and effective management during the harsh weather, ensuring the restoration of essential connectivity within a short span of time. (JKNS)
