Srinagar, Dec 27 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday clarified that the messages circulating on social media about suspicious individuals allegedly roaming in Anantnag town are false and without any factual basis, urging people to remain calm and avoid falling prey to rumours.
In a statement issue here to news agency JKNS Police spokesperson said, Some social media platforms are circulating news regarding reports of suspicious individuals roaming freely in Anantnag town. On verification it is found to be unsubstantiated.
It is urged that unsubstantiated information should not be disseminated and any information be checked for correctness and verified responsibly before hand, it reads.
General public is requested not to pay heed to such rumours causing unnecessary alarm.
Rumour mongers will be strictly dealt, the statement reads. (JKNS)
