Srinagar, Dec 27 (JKNS): The Kashmir Jurists Bar Association (KJBA) has sought an independent and comprehensive investigation into the death of Shri Sheikh Adil Nabi, Prosecution Officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), terming the incident as “suspected to be unnatural.”

In a formal communication addressed to the Special Director General, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) J&K as per news agency JKNS, the Bar Association expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the CBI prosecutor, who reportedly died in a road accident. However, the association said that emerging information from legal circles and the sensitive nature of cases handled by the deceased have raised serious apprehensions that the incident may not be a mere accident.

According to the letter, witness accounts and preliminary reports point towards possible negligent and deliberate driving. The association further claimed that CCTV footage, believed to be from the site of the incident, appears to suggest a deliberate and targeted collision, deepening concerns of possible foul play.

The KJBA has urged that the CCTV footage and all related forensic material be examined thoroughly by expert agencies. It has requested the CID to order an independent probe covering all possible angles, including negligence, intentional impact, and any potential linkage with the sensitive cases handled by the deceased officer.

The Bar Association said that such an inquiry is essential not only to ensure justice for the departed officer and his family but also to uphold public confidence in the justice delivery system.

The representation was signed by Advocate Altaf Ganderbali, President, Kashmir Jurists Bar Association, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with a copy marked to the Deputy Inspector General, CBI, Kashmir Division. (JKNS)
