Srinagar, Dec 30 (JKNS): At least eleven fire incidents were reported from different parts of the Kashmir Division during the past 24 hours, causing damage to residential houses, commercial establishments and agricultural property, officials said.

As per details available with news agency JKNS, Fire and Emergency Services Kashmir responded swiftly to all distress calls and successfully prevented the flames from spreading further, thereby averting major losses.

In Srinagar’s Umar Colony, Lal Bazar, a three-storey residential house was damaged in a fire incident. In Baramulla district, a single-storey school structure caught fire at Dewan Bagh, Sopore.

In Ganderbal’s Chewa area of Safapora, a haystack used as cow fodder was gutted, while in Letpora, Awantipora area of Pulwama, a shed made of GCI sheets was damaged in a blaze.

Kupwara district reported two incidents, including damage to a walnut tree at Pir Khan Abad and a cowshed at Magam. In Shopian’s Bongam area, a shop was affected in a fire incident.

Meanwhile, a double-storey residential house was involved in a fire at Gund area of Qazigund in Kulgam district.

Officials said the remaining incidents involved minor fire outbreaks which were brought under control in time, preventing any major damage.

Authorities have once again appealed to the public to strictly follow fire safety advisories, particularly during the winter season, and to immediately inform Fire and Emergency Services in case of any fire-related emergency. (JKNS)
