Srinagar, Dec 30 (JKNS): Security forces on Tuesday unearthed a terrorist hideout during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the forest area of Kharpora village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
Official sources told news agency JKNS that the operation was carried out jointly by security forces following specific inputs about terrorists presence in the area.
During the search operation, the forces recovered a pressure cooker fitted with a bike battery, along with 53 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. Other articles seized from the hideout included a nail cutter, comb, pliers, knife, diary, tasbih, battery and connecting wires.
The officer said all the recovered items were concealed inside a small dustbin and a pressure cooker, indicating the hideout was being used for storing explosive and logistical material.
He added that the pressure cooker device was later safely destroyed through a controlled explosion to eliminate any potential threat.
Further investigation is underway and more details are awaited. (JKNS)
