Srinagar, Dec 31 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Javed Ahmad Dar on Wednesday stated that the government has not framed any across-the-board policy for the re-engagement of retired employees, making it clear that such decisions are taken only under exceptional circumstances.

Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Minister Dar as per news agency JKNS said, that no retired government employee has been re-engaged so far.

“There is no blanket decision regarding re-employment. Re-engagement can be considered only in very rare situations where specialised expertise is absolutely essential or where departmental requirements genuinely warrant it. At present, no such case has been approved,” Dar said.

He reiterated that the government is focused on strengthening institutions, improving efficiency and maintaining transparency, and ruled out the routine practice of rehiring retired officials.

On issues related to the agriculture and horticulture sectors, the Minister said that reforms in agriculture are an ongoing process and not confined to a particular year. He stressed the importance of modern techniques, data-driven planning and continuous policy improvements to strengthen the sector.

Responding to concerns raised by apple growers over reported losses, Dar said that shifting from traditional orchards to high-density apple plantations is essential to increase productivity and ensure early financial returns. He, however, acknowledged complaints regarding the supply of inferior quality planting material.

“A committee led by the Director Horticulture Kashmir has been constituted to examine the issue. After the committee submits its report, necessary corrective measures will be taken. The government is strictly following SOPs and plant health inspection guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Agriculture,” he said. (JKNS)
