New Delhi, Jan 4 (JKNS): India recorded a notable international outing at the 52nd Ciaspolada International Snowshoe Race 2026, with its athletes securing multiple top-five finishes at one of the world’s most demanding snowshoe competitions held in northern Italy.

The standout performance came from Muzamil Hussain Mir of Kashmir, representing India in the Senior Men’s 20-39 age group, widely considered the most competitive category of the race. Competing against world champions and elite European endurance runners, Mir clinched an impressive third position, underlining India’s growing competitiveness in global winter endurance events.

India’s junior athletes delivered equally strong performances. Dhani Malhotra claimed the Junior Girls title, while Aashna Chaudhary finished as runner-up, giving India a one-two presence at the top end of the junior girls’ standings.

In the Junior Boys category, Ankit Khokhar secured fourth place, followed closely by Akshir Singh Kush, who finished fifth after a determined run on the challenging snow-covered course.

In the senior women’s division, Anjum Chaudhary added to India’s strong overall showing by finishing fifth, rounding off a successful campaign across age groups and categories.

The performances at Ciaspolada 2026 reflect a steady rise of Indian athletes in international winter sports, particularly in endurance disciplines traditionally dominated by European competitors.

India’s results in Italy mark a significant step forward and highlight the country’s expanding footprint on the global winter sports stage. (JKNS)
