Gulmarg, Sonmarg & Doodhpathri positioned to emerge as India’s next major skiing hubs
Srinagar, Jan 6 (JKNS): In a significant step towards promoting winter sports and strengthening tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday virtually inaugurated a 14-day Integrated Ski Training Course covering Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Doodhpathri.
The programme is designed to nurture young talent, encourage professional skiing training and place Kashmir’s premier winter destinations firmly on the national and international skiing map.
In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, Office of J&K Chief Minister wrote, “Chief Minister today virtually inaugurated the 14-day Integrated Ski Training Course covering Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Doodhpathri aimed at placing these destinations firmly on the skiing map.”
The post further reads, “The programme will train 500-600 students in the 12-18 age group this year, providing certified skiing training while promoting winter tourism in these destinations.” (JKNS)
