Srinagar, Jan 6 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Javid Rana on Tuesday said that Ladakh will once again become part of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the restoration of a united J&K is only a matter of time.
Talking to reporters as per news agency JKNS Rana said the Government of India would ultimately have to move towards reunification, maintaining that the idea of a divided Jammu and Kashmir is unsustainable.
He rejected recent remarks by a BJP MLA about carving out Jammu as a separate state, terming such claims baseless and misleading.
The minister said there has been no demand for a separate Jammu state from the Pir Panjal and Chenab regions, adding that people in these areas continue to stand with the idea of a unified Jammu and Kashmir. He said narratives suggesting otherwise do not reflect ground realities.
Referring to history, Rana said Jammu and Kashmir was a full-fledged state before parts of it were occupied by Pakistan and China, and Ladakh was later separated.
He expressed confidence that political circumstances would evolve and that Ladakh would eventually be reintegrated with Jammu and Kashmir.
“History cannot be rewritten permanently, and the collective aspiration for unity will prevail,” Rana said, asserting that a reunited Jammu and Kashmir is inevitable. (JKNS)
