Budgam Police Arrests Drug Peddler; Contraband Recovered

Budgam, Jan 12 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance in the Chadoora area.

In a statement, as per news agency JKNS police spokesperson said, A police team from Police Station Chadoora, led by HC Abdul Qayoom, was conducting routine naka checking at Alipora, Chadoora, when a suspect attempted to flee on noticing the police party. The individual was swiftly apprehended.

The accused was identified as Saifullah Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie, resident of Lalgam, Budgam. During his personal search, a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 8 grams (including polythene) was recovered. He was arrested on the spot, and the contraband was seized as per due legal procedure.

Accordingly, FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora, and further investigation is underway.

Budgam Police reaffirm their commitment to eliminating drug abuse and urge the public to share any information related to drug peddling to help build a drug-free society. (JKNS)
