Srinagar, Jan 15 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said he held a telephonic conversation with External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar to discuss the emerging situation in Iran and the safety of people from Jammu and Kashmir currently staying there.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister as per news agency JKNS said that the External Affairs Minister apprised him of the prevailing ground situation and informed him about the measures and contingency plans being put in place by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Omar Abdullah said he was assured that all possible steps would be taken to protect the lives and interests of students and other residents from Jammu and Kashmir who are presently in Iran.
The Chief Minister added that the situation is being closely monitored and the government remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of people from the Union Territory abroad. —(JKNS).
