Srinagar, Jan 16 (JKNS): The Kashmir Valley will observe Shab-e-Miraj tonight with deep religious fervour as the chill of winter is expected to be softened by prayers, faith and spiritual devotion.

From the revered Hazratbal shrine to the historic lanes of old Srinagar, homes and mosques will be illuminated as believers mark Shab-e-Miraj the sacred night commemorating the miraculous ascension (Miraj) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to the heavens.

Shab-e-Miraj holds immense religious significance, as it was on this blessed night that the obligation of five daily prayers was bestowed upon the Ummah.

Devotees across the Valley are expected to spend the night in worship, humility and supplication, seeking mercy, forgiveness and divine blessings.

As per news agency JKNS, The centre of major religious gatherings will be the Hazratbal Shrine, which houses the sacred Moi-e-Muqqadas (Holy Relic) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). According to information gathered by JKNS, the Holy Relic believed to be a strand of the Prophet’s hair will be displayed on Saturday after all five daily prayers including Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha.

Large congregations of men, women and children are expected to assemble at the shrine, where recitation of the Holy Qur’an and collective Durood Sharif will continue throughout the night, creating an atmosphere of deep devotion and spirituality.

Devotees from across the Valley are likely to visit the shrine from early morning till late evening, many of them seeking peace, forgiveness and blessings with tearful prayers.

In anticipation of the observance, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and SSP Srinagar Sandeep Chakravarthy have reviewed the arrangements at Hazratbal Shrine and directed all concerned departments, including Power Development, Jal Shakti, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health Services and Traffic Police, to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities and smooth traffic regulation.

“All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Shab-e-Miraj, with special focus on the comfort and safety of devotees,” DC Srinagar said.

The J&K Waqf Board has also put in place elaborate arrangements, including deployment of volunteers for crowd management, installation of water tanks, restoration of streetlights and setting up of mobile toilets. The Health Department will station medical teams and ambulances near the shrine to provide round-the-clock medical assistance.

Religious sermons scheduled for the night will highlight the spiritual message of Shab-e-Miraj, reminding worshippers to rise above worldly desires and strengthen their connection with Allah.

Besides Hazratbal, special prayers and night-long religious gatherings will also be held at other prominent shrines including Jenab Sahab Soura, Khanqah-e-Moula and Aali Masjid Eidgah.

Across Kashmir, mosques and homes will remain illuminated as families engage in nafil prayers, recitation of Durood Sharif and remembrance of Allah on this sacred night. (JKNS)
