Budgam, Jan 17 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to combat drug trafficking, Budgam Police have arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations conducted in the areas of Magam and Hardpanzoo, leading to the recovery of significant quantities of contraband substances.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, In Magam, a police team from Police Station Magam, led by SHO Magam Insp. Mudasir Hassan, apprehended an individual during routine patrolling at Batpora Crossing. The suspect was found moving under suspicious circumstances carrying a nylon bag and attempted to flee upon noticing the police party. He was tactfully apprehended, and upon search, approximately 2 kg and 100 grams of charas-like substance in ground form were recovered. The accused was identified as Rouf Ahmed Hajam, son of Mohd Ramzan Hajam, resident of Batpora, Kanihama. Accordingly, FIR No. 05/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam, and further investigation is underway, it reads.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Post Hardpanzoo, led by SI Ghulam Mohammad, established a checkpoint at village Bonizanigam. During the checking, two individuals carrying a nylon bag were noticed behaving suspiciously and attempted to flee. They were tactfully apprehended by the police party. The accused were identified as Irfan Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Yousuf Mir, and Owais Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Mohd Bhat, both residents of village Hardulatina. Upon search, 2 kg and 185 grams of ground charas-like substance were recovered from their possession.
