Anantnag, Jan 17 (JKNS): In a continued crackdown against the drug menace, Anantnag Police arrested an alleged drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Bangidar Bridge near the Filtration Plant.
Police in a statement as per news agency JKNS said a naka party of the concerned police station apprehended Faizan Ahmad Bhat alias Gafoor, son of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Bangidar. During the search, police recovered charas powder-like substance weighing about 384 grams and charas-like sticks wrapped in corn husk weighing about 54 grams from his possession. The total quantity of contraband recovered is 438 grams.
In this connection, FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Anantnag Police reiterated their resolve to take strict action against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information to help eradicate the drug menace from society. (JKNS)
