Srinagar, Jan 20 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday inaugurated the newly redeveloped Amira Kadal pedestrian bridge in Srinagar, officials said.
As per news agency JKNS, The historic bridge has been revamped under the Srinagar Smart City Project with the aim of improving pedestrian mobility and enhancing the heritage appeal of the Jhelum riverfront. Officials said the project seeks to blend modern urban design with the city’s cultural identity.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City Limited, MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardeshi, and other senior officials.
Once operational, the pedestrian bridge is expected to emerge as a major public landmark, offering seamless connectivity between Lal Chowk and nearby commercial hubs, while also providing a dedicated recreational and cultural space for residents and visitors.
Equipped with modern lighting, seating facilities, and upgraded walkways, the redeveloped Amira Kadal marks a significant addition to Srinagar’s ongoing riverfront and urban renewal initiatives—(JKNS)
