Srinagar, Jan 21 (JKNS): Senior National Conference leader and Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday said her party remains committed to the unity of Jammu and Kashmir and the restoration of constitutional and economic rights of its people, while accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of pursuing a divisive political agenda.
Speaking to reporters, as per news agency JKNS, Itoo said the National Conference believes in inclusive and cohesive politics, unlike the BJP, which, she alleged, has consistently thrived on social and regional divisions.
“Our politics is about uniting people, protecting their dignity and safeguarding their rights,” she said.
Reiterating the party’s long-standing position, Itoo said the National Conference wants Ladakh to be reintegrated with Jammu and Kashmir. She also renewed the demand for the restoration of job and land rights for locals, along with the return of special status.
“The National Conference has always stood for the identity, aspirations and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said, adding that these issues remain central to the party’s political vision.
Itoo said the party will continue to raise these demands at every forum, asserting that unity, rights and dignity of the people cannot be compromised for political expediency. (JKNS)
