Jammu, Jan 22 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday chaired a Cabinet meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, ahead of the forthcoming Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, scheduled to begin on February 2 with the address of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
According to an official post by the Chief Minister’s Office on X as per news agency JKNS, the meeting was convened to deliberate on several important public welfare and administrative matters. “Chief Minister today chaired a Cabinet meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, to consider key matters of public and administrative importance,” the post read.
Sources told news agency JKNS that the Cabinet also discussed preparations related to the Lieutenant Governor’s address at the start of the Budget Session, besides certain welfare-oriented proposals likely to be incorporated in the annual budget.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Ahmed Rana, Javid Ahmed Dar and Satish Sharma, along with Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and other senior officials.
Officials said that while no formal statement was issued detailing the decisions taken, all Cabinet approvals will come into force only after receiving the consent of the Lieutenant Governor, as per procedure.
Notably, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is set to present the second budget of his government during the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly. (JKNS)
