Srinagar, Jan 22 (JKNS): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Thursday said that the entire Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Srinagar district, is imbued with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
The Government College of Education, M.A. Road, Srinagar, on the occasion organised a colourful programme to commemorate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, as per news agency JKNS, DC Labroo said that people across J&K are gearing up to celebrate Republic Day with zeal, unity and national spirit.
“The whole of J&K, especially the Kashmir Division and Srinagar district, is ready to celebrate 26th January with great enthusiasm and in true patriotic colours,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner was interacting with reporters during a patriotic singing programme organised as part of Phase-II celebrations marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’. Students from various colleges of Srinagar participated and presented patriotic songs, reflecting deep love and respect for the nation.
Labroo appreciated the efforts of the students and organisers, stating that such programmes play a vital role in strengthening national integrity and inspiring the youth. On behalf of the district administration, he congratulated Principal Government College of Education Srinagar, Dr. Seema Naaz, and her entire team for organising what he termed a “beautiful and meaningful patriotic function” ahead of Republic Day.
He further said that the district administration is fully committed to ensuring vibrant, peaceful and dignified Republic Day celebrations across Srinagar.
Responding to a query regarding preparedness in view of snowfall predictions, DC Srinagar said that all necessary arrangements are in place and added, “We are prepared; let the snowfall come first.”—(JKNS)
