Srinagar, Jan 23 (JKNS): Braving biting cold, intermittent snowfall and rain, hundreds of devotees gathered at the historic Hazratbal Shrine on Friday to witness the display of the holy relic, reaffirming that faith transcends harsh weather conditions.

The sacred observance, held after Friday prayers following Shab-e-Mehraj, saw worshippers arriving early at the shrine, many carrying umbrellas and wrapped in warm clothing as light snowflakes continued to fall across Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS.

Eyewitnesses said the steady snowfall and chilly winds did little to dampen the spiritual fervour, as the shrine premises echoed with prayers and religious chants. The white marble structure, adorned with illuminated minarets, presented a serene and spiritually uplifting scene amid the wintry backdrop.

Officials from the Meteorological Department said rain and snowfall persisted in Srinagar throughout the day, with the possibility of further snowfall during the night.

Several devotees described the snowfall as adding to the sanctity of the occasion. “Cold and rain cannot weaken our faith. Witnessing the holy relic in such weather feels even more divine,” said a worshipper while standing under an umbrella in the shrine courtyard.

The annual observance continues to draw devotees from across the Valley, irrespective of adverse weather, highlighting the deep-rooted spiritual attachment of people to the revered shrine.

Scenes from Hazratbal reflected unwavering devotion, with rows of worshippers patiently waiting for a glimpse of the holy relic, umbrellas dotting the courtyard and warm-clad devotees standing silently in prayer despite the cold. (JKNS)
