Jammu, Jan 23 (JKNS): Owing to adverse weather conditions, the district administrations in several parts of the Jammu division have ordered the closure of schools on Friday, as a precautionary step to safeguard students and staff.

Officials told news agency JKNS that educational institutions across Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi and Udhampur districts will remain closed for the day following directions from the respective Deputy Commissioners.

The Chief Education Officer Rajouri stated that all government and private schools in the district shall remain closed today in compliance with the Deputy Commissioner’s orders.

Likewise, the Chief Education Officer Poonch said that schools in Poonch district will also remain shut today due to the prevailing inclement weather.

In Reasi district, the Chief Education Officer informed that all government and private schools shall remain closed today, except those falling within municipal limits, keeping in view the safety of students and staff.

Meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer Udhampur said that, as per verbal directions received from the Deputy Commissioner, all primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the district will remain closed today due to heavy rain and adverse weather conditions.

Authorities have urged parents and students to adhere to official advisories and avoid unnecessary movement until weather conditions improve. Further instructions will be issued as the situation develops.—(JKNS)
