Srinagar, Jan 23 (JKNS): Electricity supply across the Kashmir Valley has been hit hard after severe gusty winds damaged the power infrastructure, reducing the active load to below 100 MW against the normal requirement of nearly 1700 MW, officials said on Friday.
In a post on X, the Office of the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, citing the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), as per news agency JKNS said that almost all 33 KV feeders have tripped, including those catering to emergency and essential services, news agency JKNS reported.
While restoration teams have been pressed into service, the government said progress is being hampered by large-scale tree fall on power lines and continuing windy conditions. Officials added that a detailed assessment of damage is underway and warned that full restoration may take time due to the prevailing weather. (JKNS)
