Moderate Rain, Snowfall Likely Across J&K; MET Issues Advisory

Srinagar, Jan 25 (JKNS): Director Meteorological Department (MET), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad on Sunday said that, intermittent rain and snowfall is likely over the coming days.

As per the forecast issued by the MET Department as per news agency JKNS said, January 25 is expected to witness light rain or snowfall at isolated places.

From January 26 to 27, weather conditions will remain generally cloudy till the evening of January 26, after which light to moderate rain or snowfall is likely at most places.

There is also a possibility of moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and gusty winds at a few locations, MET advisory reads.

The MET has further stated that January 28 may see light rain or snowfall at a few places, while January 29 and 30 are likely to remain partly cloudy. On January 31 and February 1, partly cloudy weather with light rain or snowfall at isolated to scattered places is expected, followed by partly cloudy conditions on February 2 and 3.

Issuing an advisory, the MET has warned of possible moderate to heavy rain or snowfall along with thunder and gusty winds from late night of January 26 till the evening of January 27. Travellers and transporters have been advised to check road and highway status from concerned traffic authorities and strictly follow administrative advisories. Farmers have been urged to suspend farm operations till January 28, while people residing in snow-bound higher reaches have been advised to avoid venturing into sloppy and avalanche-prone areas.
