Ganderbal, Jan 28 (JKNS): An avalanche triggered by heavy snowfall swept across parts of Sonamarg near the Sarbal area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday night, officials said
Officials said that no casualties or damage have been reported.
An official told news agency JKNS that the avalanche occurred near the Sonamarg truck yard at around Tuesday evening and was captured by CCTV cameras installed in nearby hotels.
“There has been no report of loss of life or property so far,” the official said.
CCTV footage showing a sudden rush of snow moving across nearby structures has gone viral on social media.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored and precautionary teams have been deployed in the area.
People have been advised to remain cautious and avoid movement in avalanche-prone zones. (JKNS)
