Kupwara, Jan 30 (JKNS): In a daring late-night operation, the Karnah Administration successfully shifted three critical patients from snowbound areas of Karnah to GMC Handwara, including a critically ill child, despite extreme weather and dangerous road conditions.
The mission was carried out after Beacon 109 RCC cleared heavy snow at Sadhna Pass and gave the green signal for emergency movement. Under the leadership of Tehsildar Karnah, Mohd Amin Bhat, the operation was conducted in close coordination with the Indian Army, JK Police, Health Department, District and Sub-Divisional Administration.
Planning for the operation began at 9 PM, and a team of doctors stabilized the patients at SDH Tangdar. Both ambulances departed at 11:40 PM and, after a challenging overnight journey through harsh terrain, safely reached GMC Handwara at 4:15 AM.
Two JK Police personnel accompanied the patients to ensure safety and security, while a health official provided live feedback throughout the journey. These ambulances became the first vehicles to cross Sadhna Pass after nearly one week of closure, marking a major breakthrough in emergency medical response.
Speaking to the media, Tehsildar Mohd Amin Bhat said the mission was a vital emergency medical requirement and highlighted the importance of timely action to save precious lives.
Special appreciation goes to the brave ambulance drivers, medical teams, security forces, and all departments involved for their dedication, courage, and coordinated efforts.
This successful rescue mission stands as a strong example of efficient administration, inter-departmental cooperation, and commitment to public service in Karnah and Kupwara. (JKNS)
