Srinagar, Jan 30 (JKNS): Member of Legislative Assembly and ruling National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq on Friday said that every budget brings hopes and expectations, and the upcoming budget too is expected to be in favour of the people.
Speaking to media persons, Tanvir Sadiq, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Whenever a budget is presented, hopes should always be positive that it will be in the interest of the people. From day one, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made it clear that every decision taken by the government will be for the welfare of the people.”
He said that even during the previous budget, certain important decisions were taken, and expressed hope that in the forthcoming budget, several promises made in the party manifesto would also see concrete decisions. “InshaAllah, we are hopeful that many of the commitments we made will find reflection through key decisions,” he added.
Tanvir Sadiq further said that through the media, he wants to assure the people that many public demands will be reviewed seriously in the upcoming budget. “There are numerous issues raised by the people, and InshaAllah, after proper review, important decisions will be taken on many of them,” he said.
Responding to a query about Kashmiris being targeted outside Jammu and Kashmir, Tanvir said that the recent Uttarakhand incident was immediately taken up by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with the Uttarakhand Chief Minister. “Immediate action was taken and the accused involved has been arrested. We strongly appeal that the culprit should be given the strictest punishment,” he said.
He said that some people target Kashmiris on social media merely for gaining likes and popularity by uploading provocative videos. “Kashmiris—be it traders or students—go to other states for work and education, not for social media fame. We have always spoken against terrorism and continue to do so. It is the responsibility of every state in the country to ensure the safety and protection of Kashmiris,” Tanvir said.
On the continued detention of Mehraj Malik, Tanvir Sadiq said that Mehraj Malik is an elected representative of Doda and his detention is depriving the people of representation. “The people of Doda are unable to be represented as their elected MLA is in custody. I believe the time has come for his release, at least during the ongoing Assembly session, so that he can raise and represent the issues of his people,” he said. (JKNS)
