Sopore, 01 Feb, (JKNS): An election for the management of Eid Gah Aaliya Hardushiva Zaingair was held at Markazi Jamia Masjid Hardushiva. Haji Mohd Sikandar Bhat elected as Chairman.
The election was conducted for a three year term. As per the details available, a total of 57 members participated in the process. Members belong to Duroo,Mundji, Rashidabad, Sempora, Pazalpora, Takiya Khan, Hardushiva, Marbal and Yambran. All 57 members exercised their franchise, recording 100 percent voting.
In the election for president, Haji Mohd Sikander Bhat secured 32 votes and was elected as Chairman. His nearest rival, Haji Ghulam Mohd Reshi, polled 23 votes. Abdul Qayoom Dar of Rashidabad and Haji Ghulam Hassan Dar of Duroo received one vote each.
The election process was supervised by Chief Election Officer Haji Abdul Gani Kar of Shiva. The election board members included Haji Mohd Yousuf Shah, Nazir Ahmad Dar and Mohd Shafi Shah.
Addressing members after the results, newly elected president Haji Mohd Sikander Bhat said the sole objective of the Eid Gah committee is unity and smooth conduct of Eid prayers.
He clarified that there is no political motive behind the body. He said the Eid Gah will be used only for religious gatherings. He further said future plans focus on development, better management and strengthening unity across the region.
It is noteworthy that the body offered prayers at the ancestral graveyard of former president Haji Bashir Ahmed Beigh, who led the body for around nine years, seeking peace for his departed soul.Haji Bashir passed away in 15th of November 2025 last year-(JKNS)
