Jammu, Feb 4 (JKNS): Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the ruling National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that it has failed to deliver on its promises and is avoiding accountability.
Talking to reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, as per news agency JKNS, Sharma said the government must explain what it has achieved so far. “During the last budget session, they justified their inaction by saying they had completed only two months in office. Today, nearly one and a half years have gone by. The people deserve to know what has been done for them in this time,” he said.
On the issue of restoration of statehood, Sharma said the matter was conspicuously absent from serious discussion. “Even in the address of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, there was no reference to statehood. It was completely sidelined. Later, when questions started pouring in from Kashmir about the promise of statehood, the ruling party MLAs began staging protests only to put up a show,” he remarked.
The LoP accused the government of misleading the public through such actions. “Do they think someone will come and hand them statehood like a security cover? This government has failed across sectors and is now indulging in theatrics to divert attention,” Sharma said.
He further claimed that people have started seeing through what he described as the government’s misleading politics. “The public is no longer fooled. Their defeat in Budgam itself reflects that people have understood their reality,” Sharma added. (JKNS)
