Kupwara, Feb 4 (JKNS): In an exemplary display of coordination and dedication, the District Administration Kupwara, in collaboration with the Indian Army, Kupwara Police, BRO Beacon and medical teams, successfully carried out an overnight rescue operation at Sadna Top during heavy snowfall, ensuring the safe evacuation of 35 stranded vehicles.

The rescue operation was led on the ground by Tehsildar Karnah, Mohd Amin Bhat, with active involvement of the SHO Karnah, Indian Army jawans, police jawans, and 109 RCC BRO Beacon. A medical team was also kept on high alert throughout the operation to address any health emergencies arising from the extreme cold conditions.

Despite adverse weather and challenging night hours, the joint teams worked relentlessly to rescue all stranded vehicles, including 10 light motor vehicles, and safely assist passengers stuck at the snowbound pass.

Speaking to our correspondent, Tehsildar Karnah Mohd Amin Bhat said that the successful rescue operation was carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara. He added that all stranded passengers and vehicles were rescued safely, while the Indian Army made special arrangements at Sadhna Top by providing heating facilities and tea to passengers to protect them from the severe cold.

The rescued passengers and motorists expressed deep gratitude to the District Administration Kupwara and all associated agencies, including the Indian Army, Police, BRO Beacon and medical teams, for their swift response, humanitarian approach, and tireless efforts in ensuring their safety.

The operation once again underlines the strong synergy between civil administration and security forces in safeguarding lives in difficult and snow-prone border areas.(JKNS)
