Budgam, Feb 5 (JKNS): The District Administration Budgam today inaugurated NAQSH-E-MEERAS, a three-day workshop aimed at celebrating and preserving Kashmir’s rich artistic heritage.

Held at NIFT Budgam, the workshop features a variety of traditional and contemporary art forms, including painting, calligraphy, sketching, and live demonstrations of iconic Kashmiri crafts like paper mache and kani weaving.

The initiative is designed to promote Kashmir’s unique cultural identity, offering a platform for local artisans to showcase their skills and pass them on to younger generations. By fostering creativity and collaboration between traditional artisans and modern design institutions, the workshop seeks to ensure the sustainable growth of Kashmir’s artistic traditions.

On the occasion, Educationist Manjeet Singh Gil lauded the District Administration’s efforts, describing NAQSH-E-MEERAS as a “meaningful initiative” that helps bridge the gap between traditional art forms and contemporary design education. He emphasized that such programs are vital in promoting Kashmiri culture both nationally and internationally.

Mr. Manjeet Singh Gil further highlighted the importance of workshops like NAQSH-E-MEERAS in creating opportunities for local artists, encouraging cultural exchange, and supporting sustainable livelihoods for those involved in the arts.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting artisans, cultural practitioners, and educational institutions in safeguarding Kashmir’s distinct cultural heritage for future generations. (JKNS)
