Srinagar, Feb 5 (JKNS): National Conference MLA and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday said the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir should translate into concrete action, particularly the restoration of statehood, which he said has been long overdue.

Talking to reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, as per news agency JKNS, Tanvir Sadiq said the Home Minister’s visit is welcome, but reminded him of the commitment made in Parliament. “The assurance regarding statehood was given on the floor of Parliament. The time has now come to honour that commitment,” he said.

Tanvir also expressed serious concern over incidents of attacks on Kashmiris in other parts of the country, stating that such incidents must be addressed urgently. “Kashmiris are being targeted outside Jammu and Kashmir. This cannot be ignored any longer, and the Home Minister should take strict and immediate note of it,” he said.

Referring to recent anti-terror operations in the Jammu region, Tanvir Sadiq said while security forces deserve appreciation for their efforts, the developments are worrying. “Our Army and paramilitary forces are doing a commendable job, but it is alarming that terrorist incidents are being reported from areas that were earlier considered free of terrorism,” he said.

He added that the renewed presence of such incidents calls for a serious review. “There is a need to examine why this is happening again and what factors are contributing to this resurgence,” Tanvir Sadiq added. (JKNS)
