Shopian, Feb 9 (JKNS): To review the overall crime scenario, security preparedness and progress of important cases in the district, SSP Shopian Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS today chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at the Conference Hall.DPO Shopian.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the status of crime cases, including those registered under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and NDPS Act, progress of investigations, disposal rate and challenges faced at the field level. SSP Shopian emphasized the need for professional, impartial and legally sound investigations, timely filing of charge sheets and close supervision of cases to ensure effective prosecution and improved conviction rates.
While reviewing UAPA cases, SSP Shopian stressed the importance of thorough evidence collection, strict adherence to legal provisions and close coordination with intelligence agencies to ensure strong case building against elements involved in unlawful and subversive activities. Highlighting the growing menace of drug trafficking and its deep societal impact, SSP Shopian directed officers to further intensify anti-narcotics operations under NDPS Act, identify habitual offenders, peddlers and suppliers and strengthen coordination with other enforcement agencies to dismantle drug networks operating in the district.
Reviewing the overall security scenario, SSP Shopian emphasized maintaining high vigilance, strengthening ground-level intelligence and ensuring close coordination among police units to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain peace and public order.
SSP Shopian further directed field officers to maintain meticulous case documentation, ensure strict compliance with SOPs and make optimal use of modern investigative tools and technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of investigations.
