Baramulla, Feb 10 (JKNS): In its continued efforts to curb drug trafficking and eliminate the menace of narcotics from society, Baramulla Police apprehended a person and recovered a charas-like substance during routine patrolling.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, During the intervening night of 09/10-02-2026, a police party from Police Station Pattan was on routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious person moving from Kakapora towards Khore Sheerabad. On seeing the police party, the individual attempted to flee but was apprehended tactfully.
During questioning, he disclosed his identity as Shakeel Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Sadeeq Bhat R/o Khour Sheerabad. Upon personal search, 28 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession, it reads.
Accordingly, FIR No. 21/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been set into motion.
Baramulla Police remains committed to taking strict action against drug peddlers and urges the general public to cooperate in the fight against narcotics. (JKNS)
