Shopian, Feb 11: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mr. Shishir Gupta (IAS), accompanied by SSP Shopian Mr. Mushtaq Choudhary (JKPS), today conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing snow clearance operations at the Aliabad sector (KM 33) of the historic Mughal Road.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the progress achieved so far and was informed that snow has been cleared up to KM 33 despite heavy accumulation in the upper reaches. Several snow cutters, dozers, and heavy machinery have been deployed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite the restoration work.

Emphasizing the strategic and public importance of Mughal Road as a vital inter-district link between Shopian and Rajouri-Poonch, the Deputy Commissioner directed BRO officials to augment machinery and manpower to accelerate the clearance process and ensure early restoration of traffic movement up to Peer Gali.

He also instructed the concerned officers to maintain close coordination among different stakeholders to ensure safety measures are adhered to during the operation, particularly in avalanche-prone stretches.

ADC Shopian, ASP Shopian, Tehsildar Shopian, and senior officials of the BRO were present on the occasion.
