Shopian, Feb 11 (JKNS): Department of AYUSH, Shopian in collaboration with Information Department, Shopian on Wednesday organised World Unani Day at Mini-Secretariat Shopian to commemorate the invaluable contributions of the Unani system of medicine to holistic and preventive healthcare.
ADDC, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone (Chief Guest on the occasion) highlighted the historical significance of Unani Medicine and its continued relevance in addressing lifestyle-related disorders through natural and evidence-based treatments.
Addressing the gathering, he stressed the need to create mass awareness about the benefits of Unani Medicine, including its focus on balance of temperament, use of natural formulations and emphasis on disease prevention. He also underscored
the role of AYUSH systems in complementing modern medicine and strengthening public healthcare delivery.
District Ayush Officer, Shopian, Dr. Javid Ahmed briefed the gathering on the principles of Unani medicine and underlined the importance of pure water, clean air and balanced nutrition for overall well-being.
The programme was organised in line with the theme “Innovation and Evidence in Unani Practice”, focussing on scientific validation, quality assurance and innovation in Unani System of medicine.
Experts and doctors emphasized the role of Unani Medicine in preventive healthcare and it’s growing acceptance through evidence-based practices. Awareness was generated about the therapeutic benefits of Unani Medicine and it’s contribution to holistic well-being.
The event concluded with a call to strengthen coordination among departments for wider outreach and promotion of Ayush systems for public health benefit.
A skit Kashmiri “Aalow” was presented by DIPR, Shopian for adopting traditional healthcare systems for overall well-being and the participants were encouraged to make informed choices regarding healthcare and to utilize AYUSH services available at Ayush health institutions.
A “handbook of Osteoarthritis & Musculoskeletal Care” was also released on the occasion.
Media persons, doctors and other staff were felicitated for their outstanding performance, besides clinical kits were also distributed among Multipurpose Health Workers of Ayush Centres to facilitate the people of the district by providing them better healthcare facilities.
The programme was attended by ACR, Shakoor Ahmad Dar, CMO, Arshid Hussain Tak, DIO, Showkat Hussain Ganie, BMOs, AYUSH doctors, paramedical staff, representatives from the Information Department, ASHAs and a large number of Multipurpose Workers. (JKNS)
