DSW Baramulla Holds Inter-Generational Bonding Programme at KU North Campus

Baramulla, Feb 12 (JKNS): The Department of Social Welfare, Baramulla today organized a vibrant Inter-Generational Bonding Programme under the National Plan for Senior Citizens at the North Campus, University of Kashmir, Delina, Baramulla.

The event was aimed at fostering meaningful engagement and mutual understanding between the younger and older generations.

The programme was presided by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Altaf Hussain Musvi and was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Nisar Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, Sajad Ahmad and other officers and officials.

 

The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens, students, faculty members and others, creating a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, and shared experiences.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC highlighted the importance of strengthening inter-generational ties in today’s fast-paced society. He emphasized that senior citizens are repositories of wisdom, culture, and life experiences, and such initiatives play a crucial role in bridging the generational gap while promoting values of empathy, care, and social responsibility among youth.

 

The programme featured a series of cultural items that added color and vibrancy to the event. Traditional Band Pather and other performances captivated the audience and showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir.

 

Meanwhile, senior citizens shared their life journeys, experiences, and words of guidance with the younger participants, making the interaction both inspiring and emotionally enriching.

 

Later, senior citizens who have had exemplary careers in their respective fields were honoured in recognition of their lifelong contributions to society, dedication to public service, and inspiring achievements. (JKNS)
