Jammu, Feb 12 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has set an ambitious target of creating 50,000 private sector jobs over the next four years, minister Satish Sharma said on Thursday, asserting that employment generation remains a top priority of the Omar Abdullah-led administration.
Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, as per news agency JKNS, Sharma said the government is focusing on strengthening the business environment and attracting major investments to boost job opportunities for local youth.
He said efforts are being made to bring reputed national and multinational companies to the Union Territory, including leading global technology firms like Google and Microsoft, to open new avenues in the IT and services sectors.
Highlighting the issue of daily wagers, Sharma reiterated that the government is committed to regularising them within one year.
“It remains our firm commitment to regularise daily wagers within a year. Necessary policy interventions are being worked out to resolve their long-pending concerns,” he said.
He also took note of concerns regarding examination fees charged by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), stating that the government is examining the matter to reduce the financial burden on unemployed youth aspiring for government jobs.
On the return of Kashmiri Pandits, Sharma said he hopes they will come back to the Valley, though he acknowledged that the matter is not entirely within his control.
“I sincerely want them to return. We will not allow Pakistan’s nefarious designs to succeed. Our aim is to keep the nation united,” he said.
The minister added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, collective efforts are needed to build a stronger nation and a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
