Sopore, Feb 14 (JKNS): Sopore Police on Saturday inaugurated the Kho-Kho and Kabaddi Championship under the Civic Action Programme, marking the beginning of a multi-day sporting event aimed at promoting youth engagement and traditional sports across Police District Sopore.
Students from several government and private schools, along with local Kabaddi clubs, are participating in the championship. The opening ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of youth and members of the public. Civil society members, representatives of the Traders Federation, educationists, and senior police officers were present on the occasion.
The event is being organised with the objective of encouraging physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and positive community interaction among the youth. The matches began with great energy and competitive spirit, reflecting strong interest and talent in indigenous sports.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib–JKPS stated, “Through sports, we aim to channelise the energy of our youth into positive and disciplined avenues, strengthening both character and community bonds.”
The championship will continue over the coming days, with participating teams competing in the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
