Anantnag, Feb 18 (JKNS): In view of the upcoming holy month of Ramzan, Anantnag Police, in coordination with Revenue authorities and the Food Safety Department, carried out extensive market checking drives across the district.
Joint teams inspected grocery shops, vegetable and fruit vendors, meat sellers, bakeries, and other retail outlets to ensure adherence to hygiene standards, proper display of rate lists, and prevention of overcharging or sale of substandard items.
Several violations were detected during the drive, and legal action has been initiated against the erring traders. Shopkeepers were advised to maintain transparency and sell essential commodities strictly at approved rates, authorities said.
The drive reflects the administration’s commitment to safeguard consumer interests and ensure a safe and fair market environment during the festive season. (JKNS)
