Jammu, Feb 18 (JKNS): National Conference chief spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday accused Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana of neglecting Jammu and Kashmir while prioritizing fund allocation outside the Union Territory.
Addressing reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu as per news agency JKNS, Sadiq questioned the rationale behind seeking official accommodation in J&K while allegedly utilizing development funds in Uttar Pradesh.
“As per his own position, if he is allocating funds to Uttar Pradesh, then why is he seeking accommodation in Jammu and Kashmir? He should approach the UP government instead,” Sadiq said.
The NC leader asserted that Khatana was nominated to the Rajya Sabha to represent the interests of tribals, Gujjars and other marginalized sections of J&K. He alleged that despite residing in the Union Territory with his family, the MP has chosen to allocate resources elsewhere.
“Out of nine nominated MPs, he is the only one diverting funds outside J&K. Uttar Pradesh already has 90 MPs, while Jammu and Kashmir, which requires greater developmental attention, has been overlooked,” Sadiq claimed.
Describing the situation as reflective of what is being termed as “New India,” Sadiq remarked that J&K was being sidelined in matters of priority and resource allocation. (JKNS)
