New Delhi, Feb 19 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that India is not just witnessing the artificial intelligence revolution but actively leading and shaping its future, emphasising that AI must be democratised to ensure inclusion and empowerment, especially for the Global South.

Addressing the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, as per news agency JKNS, PM Modi said artificial intelligence represents a defining shift in human history. “AI marks a transformative chapter for humanity. India is not merely a participant in this revolution, but one of its key drivers,” he said.

Highlighting India’s demographic and technological strengths, the Prime Minister noted that the summit is being hosted in a nation that represents one-sixth of humanity, has the world’s largest youth population and possesses one of the biggest pools of tech talent globally.

“India does not just develop technology, we adopt it at an unprecedented scale and speed,” he said, adding that the younger generation in the country has shown remarkable enthusiasm in embracing AI-driven innovation.

Modi compared artificial intelligence to historic turning points that have reshaped civilizations and accelerated development. “Certain moments in history determine the direction of entire centuries. AI is one such milestone,” he remarked.

The summit witnessed the presence of global leaders and prominent technology executives, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, along with heads of state and government from several countries. (JKNS)
