Tehran, Feb 23 (JKNS): The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued an advisory urging Indian nationals currently residing in Iran to leave the country through available means, including commercial flights, in view of the evolving security situation.

According to the advisory dated February 23, 2026 as per news agency JKNS, issued in continuation of the Government of India’s earlier advisory of January 5, 2026, Indian students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists in Iran have been advised to exit the country at the earliest.

The Embassy has also reiterated its January 14 advisory, asking all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to exercise utmost caution, avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, remain in close contact with the Indian Embassy and closely follow local media for updates.

Indian nationals have been advised to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, readily accessible at all times. The Embassy has assured assistance to those requiring support.

The emergency helpline numbers issued by the Embassy are +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102 and +989932179359. Queries can also be sent via email to cons.tehran@mea.gov.in.

The Embassy has further requested all Indian nationals in Iran who have not yet registered with it to do so through the designated link available on the Embassy’s official website. In case of internet disruptions in Iran, family members in India have been advised to complete the registration process on their behalf.

The advisory comes amid rising tensions and ongoing developments in the region, prompting precautionary measures for the safety of Indian citizens. (JKNS)
