Shopian, Feb 26 (JKNS): The District Magistrate Shopian on Thursday ordered the reopening of the Mughal Road for vehicular movement from February 27, 2026, subject to favourable weather conditions and absence of any unforeseen circumstances.
As per an official order, the decision follows communications received from the Officer Commanding, 52 RCC (GREF), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), concerning the stretch from Shopian (Km 0.00) to Peer Ki Gali (Km 40.550) on National Highway-701A.
The order specifies that traffic movement shall be regulated strictly in accordance with the advisory issued by the Traffic Police. Commuters have been asked to follow all safety instructions to avoid inconvenience and ensure smooth travel.
Authorities have also directed the OC 52 RCC (GREF), BRO to keep adequate men and machinery stationed along the route to promptly tackle any eventuality, including landslides, avalanches, shooting stones or other weather-related disruptions.
Further, the Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, ARTO Shopian and Dy SP Traffic Shopian have been instructed to ensure proper deployment of personnel for effective implementation of the order. (JKNS)
