Srinagar, Feb 27 (JKNS): Women athletes of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) delivered an outstanding performance at the Khelo India Winter Games 2026, clinching a total of two gold and four silver medals in Nordic skiing and ski mountaineering events.

What makes the achievement particularly remarkable is that the CRPF women’s winter sports team was raised just two years ago. In a short span, the athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, emerging as strong contenders on the national winter sports stage.

Constable Kajal Kumari led the medal tally with a double gold triumph in the 10 km and 15 km Nordic Ski events, showcasing endurance and technical excellence against tough competition.

Constable Renu Dhanu secured two silver medals in the 15 km and 1.6 km Nordic Ski events, further strengthening the team’s overall performance.

Constable Hiralbhen added another silver medal to the tally by finishing second in the 10 km Nordic Ski event.

The team also bagged a silver medal in the Ski Mountaineering (Skimo) Relay event, with Constable Kajal Kumari, Constable Renu Dhanu, Constable Pragati and Constable Preeti representing the CRPF.

Officials said the achievement reflects the Force’s commitment to promoting sports and empowering women personnel in competitive disciplines, including winter sports.

The performance of the CRPF women athletes has drawn appreciation from various quarters, with many hailing their grit, discipline and dedication in mastering challenging mountain terrains.

The medal haul is expected to boost morale within the Force and inspire more women personnel to pursue excellence in sports at national and international platforms. (JKNS)
