Srinagar, Feb 27 (JKNS): In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening tourism security through technological innovation, Jammu & Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University, successfully concluded a two-week workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing at District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar.
The workshop was designed to enhance the professional capabilities of Police personnel in addressing tourism-related security challenges by integrating modern technological tools into day-to-day policing.
Key focus areas included smart surveillance systems, data-driven policing strategies, digital response mechanisms, and technology-enabled tourist assistance.
The valedictory session was presided over by DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey, IPS, in the presence of SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, and other senior officers.
Addressing the participants, DIG CKR underscored the growing importance of technology-enabled Policing, particularly in a tourism-centric region like Jammu & Kashmir. He lauded the collaborative effort between Jammu & Kashmir Police and Rashtriya Raksha University, terming the workshop a progressive step towards building a tech-savvy, responsive, and citizen-friendly police force.
During the ceremony, mementos were presented to the resource persons and faculty members from Rashtriya Raksha University as a mark of appreciation for their valuable contribution and institutional support.
Certificates of participation were distributed among the Police personnel.
The workshop covered a wide spectrum of subjects, including cyber awareness in tourism zones, advanced surveillance technologies, emergency response systems, digital documentation, tourist assistance mechanisms, and best practices in tourism policing. Experts from Rashtriya Raksha University conducted interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based exercises to provide hands-on training to the participating officers.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police towards modernization and capacity building. By blending technology with traditional policing methods, the Police department aims to establish a robust framework that ensures a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for tourists visiting the region.
