Srinagar, Mar 9 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department Srinagar has forecast generally cloudy weather with intermittent rain and snowfall in higher reaches across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days.
According to the forecast as per news agency JKNS, March 9 will witness generally cloudy conditions with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at scattered places. From March 10 to 11, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher altitudes at many places across the Union Territory.
The MeT Department said some higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts may receive moderate snowfall during this period.
From March 12 to 15, the weather is expected to remain generally dry with occasional cloudiness, though brief spells of light rain or snow at isolated places cannot be ruled out.
The forecast further indicates generally cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at isolated to scattered places during March 16–17, while similar conditions are likely at scattered locations during March 17–18.
Advisory Issued
The Meteorological Department has also issued an advisory warning of temporary traffic disruptions over higher reaches and important mountain passes of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar due to the weather conditions.
Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations from March 10 to 12 in view of the expected rainfall and snowfall.
Additionally, a drop in daytime temperatures by 4–6°C is expected from March 9 onwards at many places till March 12. There is also a possibility of thunder and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph at a few places between March 9 and 11, the MeT department said. (JKNS)
