Srinagar, Mar 11 (JKNS): Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma on Wednesday said that there is adequate availability of petroleum products and LPG in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the public not to panic or fall prey to rumours.

In a video message as per news agency JKNS, Minister Sharma said that the government is closely monitoring the supply of petrol, diesel and LPG across the Union Territory and all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure smooth availability of essential fuel supplies.

“People should not panic. There is sufficient supply of petroleum and petroleum products and the government is handling the situation judiciously,” Sharma said, adding that strict directions have been issued to officers and officials to maintain close vigilance on the supply and distribution system.

He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in hoarding, black marketing or overcharging of LPG cylinders and petroleum products. “This is a testing time and anyone indulging in such illegal activities will not be spared,” he said.

The Minister said enforcement teams and Legal Metrology officials have intensified inspections at fuel stations and LPG outlets to ensure compliance with regulations and consumer protection norms.

Appealing to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain calm, Sharma urged the public to rely only on official information and report any instances of irregularities to the authorities so that strict action can be taken against the violators. (JKNS)
