Baramulla, Mar 13 (JKNS): The Department of Social Welfare Baramulla on Thursday organised a one-day mega awareness programme on Intergenerational Bonding, along with an Iftaar gathering for senior citizens, under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens with the theme “Celebrating Culture Across Generations.”

The programme was held at Palaash Reban, Rafiabad, on the directions of District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, Sajad Ahmad Bhat, and aimed at bridging the generational gap between senior citizens and the younger generation by promoting understanding, interaction and mutual respect.

Superintendent Palaash Reban Rafiabad Bharat Bhushan, social worker Hilal Farooq Akhoon, officials from the Social Welfare Department and several senior citizens attended the event.

During the programme, an Iftaar party was also organised, which was widely appreciated by the participants. Senior citizens expressed gratitude to Bharat Bhushan and his team for organising the event, saying it brought joy and a sense of belonging among the elderly.

Participants also appreciated the department’s initiatives, stating that such programmes strengthen the bond between the administration and senior citizens while encouraging greater intergenerational interaction and social support. (JKNS)
